His nest is somewhere in the neighbourhood of Emmeloord, The Netherlands.

Although there are enough suitable landing fields in the surrounding of his residence, you will probably never see him circling in the air, above his nest. He prefers mountain areas, where it is much easier to take off into the sky. Because of the lack of suitable mountains in the region around his nest, he often makes use of a cable/winch system to get airborne. Several times a year, he will make a holiday trip to mountain-rich countries. (Italy, Austria, Slovenia)
